At least 530 cars turned and filled two semi-trailers and a box truck, the county said in a social media post.

“Thank you, Montgomery County, and beyond, for your efforts to divert Styrofoam from the landfill,” the county wrote on its Facebook page.

Cars were lined up Saturday morning at 8:45 a.m. at 221 N. Main Street.

The material will be densified and turned into other products such as picture frames, surfboards and more, the county said.

Montgomery County partnered with the City of Centerville, Centerville-Washington Park District, Eco Development, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America.

More than 22,000 pounds of Styrofoam have been recycled since January 2021 with the help of this program.

Montgomery County’s next Styrofoam recycling event will be April 22 at the Rose Music Center in Huber Heights.
