1 dead, 1 hurt after shooting near Metro station in Northeast, DC police say

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said someone shot a boy and another person in Northeast Monday afternoon, leaving one of them dead.

MPD said it happened in the 4700 block of Minnesota Ave. NE around 3:35 p.m. The location of the shooting is near the Deanwood Metro Station.

Medics took the boy who was hurt to the hospital. MPD said he was conscious at the time.

Police later said a second person, an “older” teenager, also was hit by gunfire. That person was unconscious and was not breathing when officers got there.

Police later said one of the people died.
