2 suspects arrested after a teen was shot and killed outside Macon Planet Fitness

Two men face murder charges in connection to the death of a 17-year-old in the parking lot of a local Planet Fitness, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigation Division, Gang Unit, Special Investigations Unit, SWAT, and FBI Safe Streets Gang Task Force arrested Daeshawn Markell Hardwick, 21, and Jaylon Emanuel Stephens, 20, on Friday in connection with the murder of Sha’quvas Dean, 17. The shooting happened in the parking lot of the gym, located on Tom Hill Sr. Boulevard.

Stephens was wanted in Bibb County on seven counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of criminal street gang activity and aggravated assault. He now also faces a murder charge.

Hardwick also faces a murder charge. Both suspects were being held without bond Friday.

The circumstances surrounding the incident were still under investigation Friday. More information was expected to be released as it became available.
