2 suspects who police believe shot Alameda County deputy in Union City found dead of self-inflicted gunshot wounds

(KRON) — Two people who police believe shot an Alameda County Sheriff’s deputy in the arm Wednesday were found dead of self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Union City Police Department. Union City PD obtained search warrants for the location where deputies were serving an eviction Wednesday.

After officers unsuccessfully tried to make contact with the suspects for several hours, a Union City PD SWAT team was called in. SWAT operators found a deceased man and woman. Police believe the two were responsible for the shooting of the deputy on Wednesday.

The man and woman were in a relationship and appeared to have sustained self-inflicted gunshot wounds, according to police. No other suspects or victims were found inside the home.

Union City PD said the identity of the deputy who was shot will not be released due to the active investigation. He is recovering in a hospital, according to law enforcement officials. There is no existing threat to the public, according to police.
