2 Tazewell County Board members resign. Here's when new members will be picked

The Tazewell County Board accepted the resignations of board members Mindy Darcy and Dr. Bill Hauter on Wednesday.

“Bill and Mindy were both tremendous assets to the board and they had bright futures in leading Tazewell,” said Tazewell County Board Chairman David Zimmerman. “They will both be missed.”

Hauter was elected as a Tazewell County Board District Two representative in 2020. He is stepping down to run as a Republican candidate for state representative in the 87th Illinois House District, and believes it would benefit Tazewell County to have a new board member in place before the November midterm elections.

“I have greatly enjoyed my time on the Board, and I have tremendous gratitude for the opportunity I have had to experience local government leadership,” Hauter stated in his July 27 resignation letter.

Darcy, a Tazewell County Board District Two representative for four years, has resigned to move on to a new position as Tazewell's finance director.

“It has been an honor to represent the people of Tazewell County when debating the challenging and important issues and making the often tough decisions as a member of this board,” Darcy wrote in her Aug. 24 resignation letter. “I will miss it.”

Two new District Two members will be seated at next month’s board meeting, Zimmerman said. The new representative will be chosen from individuals already on the ballot for the November election.
