Here's what happened that day

Police and prosecutors were aided in the investigation of the shooting by surveillance video that was recorded inside the restaurant as the shooting unfolded.

According to a criminal complaint, Fowler entered with three other teens and sat at a booth. Johnson and two other people went in shortly afterwards and walked past the teens. Johnson walked back toward them with a handgun.

At some point, Johnson raised a gun to Fowler's head. Fowler pushed it away, then pulled a handgun from his pants, according to the complaint.

That's when shots were exchanged between the two teens, the complaint said.

The four teens, including Johnson, were hit by gunfire.

Under Wisconsin law, 17-year-olds are charged as adults. Children age 10 and older may be charged as adults for some serious crimes.
