2 Top Condé Nast Executives to Exit Amid Restructuring

Chief financial officer David Geithner and chief human resources officer JoAnn Murray are both exiting Condé Nast as part of the media company’s recently announced reorganization, according to an individual with knowledge of the company.

This is the first sign that the company’s reorganization, announced last week, will claim high-profile casualties as global CEO Roger Lynch consolidates his authority over all of the company’s brands worldwide.

Geitner, a Time Inc. veteran who joined Conde Nast five years ago, and seven-year veteran JoAnn Murray chose not to pursue newly-created global roles and will stay until the new roles are filled, according to the individual.

On August 14, the company announced a “new organizational structure, which combines Condé Nast and Condé Nast International into a unified global team.” A number of high-profile promotions and title shifts came with the news. Anna Wintour, already U.S. artistic director and Vogue U.S. editor, added oversight of Vogue International as well as the title global content adviser to her portfolio.

“The company is also globalizing its three corporate functions to leverage skills, expertise and standardize processes and best practices: People, Finance and Communications. The company will begin an immediate search and selection process for these and other open roles. Until new leaders are identified, teams will maintain their existing reporting lines and responsibilities,” the original release said.
