2 Virginians arrested in Iredell County with more than 7.5 grams of heroin: Sheriff

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Two Virginians were arrested in Iredell County after being found with more than 7.5 grams of heroin in their car, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

On Tuesday, Feb. 13, deputies responded to the 1400 block of West Memorial Highway about a suspicious vehicle.

Deputies found the vehicle and spoke with the occupants- 23-year-old Machallie Reann Meade and 26-year-old Patrick Jack Martin.

Officials said they became suspicious of drug activity while talking with the suspects and searched the vehicle. Inside, they found 7.58 grams of heroin, buprenorphine dosage units and several items of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies were able to find Martin in a criminal database with an outstanding order for arrest out of Cabarrus County. He received a $1,500 secured bond for the outstanding warrant of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Meade was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where she was issued a $250,000 secured bond for the charges of:

  • Felony trafficking opium or heroin by transport

  • Felony trafficking opium or heroin by possession

  • Felony possession with intent to sell and deliver a Schedule I controlled substance

  • Misdemeanor simple possession of a Schedule III controlled substance

  • Misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia

  • Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia
