2 women arrested for stealing credit cards from Fairfax County gym, using them to shop

BURKE, Va. (DC News Now) — The Fairfax County Police Department said two women were arrested for a string of thefts that take took place at a gym in Burke.

On Jan. 25, police received multiple reports of thefts from the women’s locker rooms at a OneLife Fitness gym, located at 9250 Old Keene Mill Rd.

Among the things stolen were credit cards which were used at multiple stores, some of them being in the City of Fairfax.

Police investigated a total of five separate theft reports from the same location between Jan. 24 to Jan. 29. Using security footage and looking at the credit card transactions, police were able to identify the two suspects as Rayan Hassan, 25, of Annandale, and Sumaya Mendez, 30, of Lorton.

It was found out that Mendez had a membership to the gym and Hassan came with her as a guest.

The two women were arrested and charged with four counts of credit card larceny. Hassan was released on an unsecured bond and Mendez was released on a $6,000 secured bond.
