2 Wright State Raiders get end of season Horizon League honors

Two members of the Wright State Raiders men’s basketball team earned recognition from the Horizon League on Monday.

Brandon Noel was named Freshman of the Year while Trey Calvin earned First Team honors.

Noel’s freshman of the year award also earned him a spot on the All-Freshman team. He played in all 31 regular season games for the Raiders, including 24 starts. Noel average 12.8 points per game and made under 60% of his shots from the field, 60.8%. That leads the Horizon League and ranks in the top 20 nationally.

Noel is averaging 8.7 rebounds per game, third in the Horizon League. He has 269 total rebounds, including 200 defensive boards. Noel also has 10 double-doubles this season, third most in the Horizon League.

Calvin was a pre-season second team selection and played in 30 games. He is averaging over 20 points per game and has made 235 of 474 shots. His 49.6% shooting percentage is ninth in the Horizon League.

Wright State begins play in the 2023 Horizon League Championship Tuesday night when they host Green Bay at 7 p.m. at the Nutter Center.
