20 C-USA basketball games? UTEP women release nonconference slate
The UTEP women's basketball team released a nine-game nonconference schedule Friday for the 2022-23 season that could portend a record 20-game Conference USA schedule.
The C-USA schedule will be released later this summer, but the Miners typically have around 30 games on the final schedule, so the nine-game nonconference schedule – matching the fewest UTEP has ever had in a non-COVID year – would seem to indicate the Miners will play the other 10 teams in C-USA twice each in the 2022-23 season.

C-USA, which had 14 teams last season and will have nine in 2023-24, will have 11 in the coming season. There were 18 conference basketball games in the previous scheduling cycle and presumably 16 in the next one.
UTEP does not host a tournament this season and will travel to one in San Luis Obispo, California, over the Thanksgiving weekend, where they will play San Jose State on Nov. 25 and Sacramento State on Nov. 26.
There also is a final nonconference home-and-home with New Mexico State prior to the Aggies joining C-USA. UTEP hosts New Mexico State on Nov. 30 and returns the trip on Dec. 13 for the final nonconference game.
C-USA play typically starts with the new calendar year, but two extra conference games would potentially push that into mid-December.
The Miners open with a home exhibition against Western New Mexico on Nov. 5 before the regular-season opener in the Don Haskins Center on Nov. 7 against New Orleans.
