20-year-old Tazewell County woman dies in fatal Virginia accident

WASHINGTON COUNTY, VA (WVNS) — A 20-year-old woman from Richlands, Virginia died in a single car crash in Washington County.

According to a press release from the Virginia State Police, the crash happened on Route 19 in Washington County, Virginia at 9:39 PM on Sunday, February 18, 2024.

The release stated that a 2012 Toyota Camry, driven by Jordyn P. Rasnake, 20, of Richlands, Virginia, was traveling northbound near Brumley Gap Road when she reportedly lost control and ran off the road. The car hit an embankment which caused Rasnake to be thrown from the vehicle.

She was then trapped under the car once it stopped moving. She died at the scene.

According to the release, Rasnake was not wearing a seatbelt. The crash remains under investigation by the Virginia State Police.
