200 Miles Of Road Resurfacing Will Close Lanes Regionally

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — More than 200 state highway miles will be resurfaced around Greater Philadelphia in the week before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Look for lane closures in Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties for resurfacing and repair projects starting Monday and continuing through Nov. 21 in some places, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedules and locations are:

Chester County

  • Monday, Nov. 16, through Friday, Nov. 20, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., lane restrictions are scheduled on Old Wilmington Road between Route 340 (West Kings Highway) and Route 372 (Valley Road) in West Caln and Sadsbury townships for milling and paving operations.

Delaware County

  • Monday, Nov. 16, through Friday, Nov. 20, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., lane closures are scheduled on Bishop Hollow Road between Route 3 (West Chester Pike) and Ridley Creek Road in Newtown and Upper Providence townships for milling and paving operations.

Montgomery County

  • Sunday, Nov. 15, through Friday, Nov. 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., lane closures are scheduled on Route 63 (Welsh Road) between West Orvilla Road and Route 363 (Valley Forge Road) and on Route 363 (Valley Forge Road) between Route 63 (Welsh Road) and Germantown Pike in Lansdale, Hatfield boroughs, and Towamencin, Upper Gwynedd, and Worcester townships for milling, paving and manhole adjustments; and

  • Sunday, Nov. 15, through Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., lane closures are scheduled on Morris Road between School Road/Plymouth Road and Route 363 (Valley Forge Road) in Upper Gwynedd, Worcester and Whitpain townships for milling, paving and manhole adjustments.

Philadelphia

  • Friday, Nov. 13, through Friday, Nov. 20, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., weekday lane closures are scheduled on 15th Street between Ranstead Street and Chestnut Street for milling and paving operations.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under these improvement projects, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surface and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

Work on these projects will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signage and relevant training.
