2013 Hilltown killing: Detectives seek info in unsolved murder on 10 year anniversary of slaying

Bucks County Detectives and Hilltown police are asking for help in a decade's old unsolved murder.

The Bucks County District Attorney's Office said Thursday, which marked 10 years since the slaying, that investigators were still trying to find out who killed 48-year-old Joseph Canazaro in his Hilltown home.

Canazaro, 48, was found dead in his garage on Jan. 18, 2013. Officials said he was stabbed to death.

The DA's office said two armed men entered Canazaro's home in the 300 block of Swartley Road that morning. The two men tied up Canazaro, his girlfriend and his 12-year-old son, and then ransacked the home.

They took guns, money, jewelry and other items, authorities said.

Canazaro's girlfriend and his son were able to escape and call 911 for help.

When police arrived, Canazaro was found dead.

The two men who tied the three of them up fled Canazaro's home in his truck, which was later found at the Quakertown Plaza Shopping Center off of Route 309 in Richland.

Surveillance footage showed the two men moving the stolen items from the truck into a car in the shopping center before fleeing, according to officials.

The vehicle they used to flee in was described as a red, four-door Nissan sedan. Investigators believe it was either a 2004 to 2008 Nissan Maxima or Altima.
