2015's best high school baseball player in each state

Chris Andritsos Profile - 2014 MaxPreps begins its baseball coverage of the 2015 season with the selection of the top high school baseball player in each state.

The top player chosen by MaxPreps is not necessarily the No. 1 overall prospect. Selections are based on all-state selections, statistics and recruiting ratings.

Alabama
Sam Finnerty, Pelham, 6-1, 180, OF
The state Player of the Year by American Family Insurance, Finnerty is headed to Alabama next year. As a junior, he hit .428 with 25 stolen bases and eight home runs.

Alaska
Nick Jensen, South (Anchorage), P
Jensen was named the top pitcher at the state tournament last season where South finished as the runner-up to Sitka. He also threw a no-hitter during the regular season.

Arizona
Blake Perkins, Verrado (Buckeye), 6-1, 180, OF
A member of the Division II All-State Team and the Arizona Republic All-Arizona Team, Perkins was one of the top hitters in Arizona last year with a .551 average that included 10 home runs, 60 runs, nine doubles and three triples. He'll play for Arizona State next season.

Arkansas
Andy Pagnozzi, Fayetteville, 6-0, 195, RHP/3B
The Northwest Arkansas Media Player of the Year, Pagnozzi is 22-3 in his three seasons with the Bulldogs. He went 10-1 as a junior with a 0.68 ERA. He also had a stretch of 44 innings in which he did not allow an earned run. He has committed to Ole Miss.

California
Joe DeMers, College Park (Pleasant Hill), 6-2, 215, RHP/SS
College Park could be one of the top teams in the country this year thanks largely to the all-around play of DeMers, who has earned MaxPreps Underclass All-American honors three years running. He posted a 12-2 record last year with 94 strikeouts and a 0.65 ERA in 86 innings pitched. He also batted .373 with 32 RBIs. He has committed to Washington.

Colorado
Nick Shumpert, Highlands Ranch, 6-0, 180, SS
Although Highlands Ranch struggled last year, Shumpert did not as he batted .410 with 20 runs, five doubles and three home runs. He is the son of former major league player Terry Shumpert and he has committed to play at Kentucky.

Connecticut
Ron Rossomando, Bunnell (Stratford), 6-5, 220, RHP
Headed to the University of Connecticut, Rossomando was named the state player of the year by American Family Insurance in 2014 and also earned Gatorade State Player of the Year honors. He posted a 5-1 record with a 1.69 ERA and 69 strikeouts in 42.1 innings pitched.

Delaware
Jason Bilous, Caravel (Bear), 6-2, 170, RHP
A key member of Caravel's state championship team, Pilous compiled an 11-1 record with 84 strikeouts in 61.2 innings pitched. He also batted .483 with 15 runs scored. He has committed to Coastal Carolina.

Florida
Brendan Rodgers, Lake Mary, 6-1, 190, SS
Rodgers is regarded as the top player in the Class of 2015 by Perfect Game. He earned all-area honors by the Orlando Sentinel last season after batting .397 with eight home runs and 18 RBIs. He has committed to play at Florida State, but he will likely be a high first-round draft pick in June.

Georgia
Dazmon Cameron, Eagle's Landing Christian Academy (McDonough), 6-0, 185, OF
The son of former major league outfielder Mike Cameron, Daz has been one of the top players in Georgia since his freshman year. The No. 2 player in the country according to Perfect Game, Cameron batted .390 with six home runs and 26 RBIs last season.

Hawaii
Codie Paiva, Kamehameha (Honolulu), 6-4, 175, SS
An all-state shortstop, Paiva batted .415 last year and committed just three errors in the field.

Idaho
Ryan Beard, Rocky Mountain (Meridian), 6-3, 215, LHP
Beard helped lead Rocky Mountain to the semifinals of the Class 5A state playoffs last year, striking out 10 batters in the team's playoff opener. He finished the season with a 7-1 record and struck out 66 with a 1.24 ERA. He has committed to Air Force.

Illinois
Nick Dalesandro, Joliet Catholic Academy (Joliet), 6-2, 185, C/3B/RHP
A multi-dimensional player, Dalesandro can pitch, play behind the plate and also in the field. He batted .409 with 28 RBIs last season and also had a 7-1 pitching record with 74 strikeouts in 55 innings while earning Class 3A all-state honors.

Indiana
Ashe Russell, Indianapolis Cathedral, 6-4, 195, RHP
A member of the Indiana Baseball Coaches Association all-state team, Russell posted an 8-1 record with 101 strikeouts and a 1.23 ERA in 80 innings pitched. He has hit 96 miles per hour with his fastball and he has committed to play at Texas A&M.

Kansas
Riley Pint, Aquinas (Overland Park), 6-4, 190, P
Pint posted an 8-0 record with 59 strikeouts and a 2.58 ERA as a sophomore last year. After a strong summer performance, Pint has been ranked by Perfect Game as the top junior prospect in the nation.

Kentucky
Caleb Bruner, Logan County (Russellville), 6-2, 180, RHP/1B
Earned all-state honors after posting a 7-2 record with 73 strikeouts and a 1.34 ERA. Signed with Western Kentucky.

Louisiana
Hogan Harris, St. Thomas More (Lafayette), 6-2, 195, LHP
St. Thomas More could be the top team in Louisiana this year after winning the Class 4A title last year. Harris is one of the key returning pitchers for the team after going 3-0 last year with 31 strikeouts in 16.2 innings pitched. He will be staying close to home next season by attending Louisiana-Lafayette.

Maine
Conor Maguire, Ellsworth, OF
Maguire earned all-state honors from American Family Insurance last season. He was the Penobscot Valley Conference Player of the Year after batting .400.

Maryland
Cody Morris, Reservoir (Fulton), 6-4, 205, P
The Gatorade State Player of the Year, Morris posted an 8-1 pitching record with 90 strikeouts and a 0.80 ERA while leading Reservoir to a state championship.

Massachusetts
Shane Combs, St. John's (Shrewsbury), 6-2, 205, P
A star on the football team, Combs had a big year last season on the diamond as he tossed two no-hitters and went 4-1 with 60 strikeouts and a 1.36 ERA in 36 innings pitched.

Michigan
Nick Plummer, Brother Rice (Bloomfield Hills), 5-11, 205, OF
Brother Rice was in contention for a state title all year long in 2014, thanks in large part to the play of Plummer. He earned all-state honors by batting .573 with 34 RBIs and eight home runs.

Minnesota
Tyrell Buck, Red Wing, 6-4, 220, 3B/SS
Buck earned a spot on the Star Tribune All-State Second Team and has been tabbed as the top prospect in the state by both Baseball America and Perfect Game. He's also a standout on the basketball court.

Mississippi
Austin Riley, DeSoto Central (Southaven), 6-3, 235, 2B
One of the top two-sport athletes in the state (he's also an outstanding punter), Riley earned all-state honors last season while batting .486 with nine home runs, 35 RBIs, and 10 doubles.

Missouri
Marquise Doherty, Winnetonka (Kansas City), 6-1, 205, OF
A four-sport athlete, Doherty has excelled at track, football, basketball and baseball. He earned second team all-state honors in football at running back in the fall and he projects as a potential MLB draft pick in June. He was also the national indoor track and field champion in the 55-meter dash in 2012. He has committed to play football and baseball at Missouri.

Nebraska
Alec Bohm, Roncalli Catholic (Omaha), 6-5, 210, SS
Bohm has earned all-state honors the past two seasons and he recently signed with Wichita State. He batted .533 last year with 24 RBIs, seven doubles and six home runs.

Nevada
Cadyn Grenier, Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), 5-10, 180, SS/RHP
Bishop Gorman will try to win a state championship for the first time in three seasons and Grenier will likely be the one leading the way. He earned all-state honors last year while batting .491 with 31 RBIs, 49 runs, eight doubles and four home runs.

New Hampshire
Ryan McKenna, St. Thomas Aquinas (Dover), 5-10, 180, OF
McKenna actually lives in Maine, but he attends school in New Hampshire at Aquinas. He earned a spot in the Area Code Games after batting .551 with eight home runs and 31 RBIs.

New Jersey
Denny Brady, Buena, 6-1, 185, RHP
Brady was named the Star Ledger State Pitcher of the Year as a junior and also earned player of the year honors from the Daily Journal. He went 10-0 on the mound with a 0.46 ERA and struck out 106 batters in 61 innings pitched. He also drove in 24 runs and had three home runs. He has committed to East Carolina.

New Mexico
Austin Treadwell, Eldorado (Albuquerque), 6-3, 205, OF/RHP
An all-state player as a junior, Treadwell has emerged as the state's top player, according to Pefect Game, and will play on an Eldorado team that could challenge for a state title. Treadwell batted .330 last year with three home runs.

New York
Wesley Rodriguez, Washington (New York), 5-11, 200, 3B
Washington historically produces some of the top talent in the state and Rodriguez is another in a long line. He earned all-city honors last year with a .475 batting average and 33 RBIs with 32 runs scored. He's headed to Pittsburgh.

North Carolina
Eric Jenkins, West Columbus (Cerro Gordo), 6-2, 175, OF
Jenkins has established himself as one of the top outfield prospects in the country. As a junior, he batted .400 with 31 runs scored, 22 RBIs, seven doubles, three triples and one home run. He also spent time on the mound, striking out 14 batters in 12 innings.

North Dakota
Zach Walz, Grand Forks Central, 5-10, 165, 2B
Walz earned all-state honors by American Family Insurance after batting .349 with 18 RBIs and 10 stolen bases.

Ohio
Sam Bordner, Bloom-Carroll (Carroll), 6-6, 235, RHP/1B
Bordner excelled at the plate and on the mound last season for Bloom-Carroll, which went 28-3 with a Division II state championship. Bordner batted .363 with 29 RBIs, 11 doubles and two home runs while boasting a 9-0 pitching record with a 0.384 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 54.2 innings pitched.

Oklahoma
Cory Zangari, Carl Albert (Midwest City), 6-5, 230, RHP/C
Carl Albert regularly challenges for the 5A state championship and produces some of the top home run hitters in the state. It shouldn't be any different this year with returning all-state catcher Zangari leading the way. He batted .500 last year with 11 home runs and 55 RBIs in helping Carl Albert go 38-4 with a state championship.

Oregon
Parker Kelly, Westview (Portland), 6-2, 220, C/3B
The younger brother of Carson Kelly, who was the top player in Oregon in 2012, Parker is making his own way after being selected to the Perfect Game All-American Classic. He batted .316 last season while earning All-Metro League honors.

Pennsylvania
John Aiello, Germantown Academy (Fort Washington), 6-2, 200, SS
Signed with Wake Forest, Aiello participated in the Area Code Games and the Perfect Game All-American Classic last summer. He batted .442 last year.

Rhode Island
Gian Martellini, Bishop Hendricken (Warwick), 6-2, 200, C
The Gatorade State Player of the Year will play at Vanderbilt next season. As a junior, Martellini batted .467 with 41 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

South Carolina
Kep Brown, Wando (Mt. Pleasant), 6-5, 195, OF/RHP
Selected to play in the Perfect Game All-American Classic, Brown batted .300 last year at Wando with three home runs.

South Dakota
Jake Bear, Roosevelt (Sioux Falls), 5-9, 175, IF
Bear earned all-state honors last season after batting .357 with 12 RBIs and three doubles.

Tennessee
Donny Everett, Clarksville, 6-2, 220, RHP/1B
Selected to play in the Perfect Game All-American Classic last season, Everett was unable to play due to state eligibility rules. However he certainly ranks as the state's top prospect after going 11-1 last year with 105 strikeouts and a 0.79 ERA.

Texas
Chris Andritsos, The Woodlands, 6-3, 220, 1B
The MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year in 2013, Andritsos also earned Underclass All-American honors as a junior after being named the Houston Chronicle's All-Greater Houston Hitter of the Year. He batted .453 with 11 home runs and 35 RBIs, and also had a 10-0 pitching record with 107 strikeouts.

Utah
Easton Walker, Pleasant Grove, 5-8, 155, P
The Utah Valley Player of the Year as a junior, Walker went 9-0 on the mound with 99 strikeouts and a 0.97 ERA in 72 innings pitched. He also batted .415 with nine doubles and three home runs.

Vermont
Alex Chapman, Bellows Free Academy (Fairfax), P

Chapman helped his team go undefeated at 19-0 by going 8-0 on the mound with 89 strikeouts in just 48.1 innings pitched. He was named the state player of the year by American Family Insurance and he also batted .453.

Virginia
Evan Sperling, Grafton (Yorktown), 6-6, 215, LHP/1B
A standout basketball and baseball player, Sperling earned all-area honors by the Daily Press last year after going 9-2 on the mound with 77 strikeouts in 67 innings pitched. He has signed to play at Virginia.

Washington
Brendan Illies, Puyallup, 6-0, 195, C/RHP
The Vikings went 28-0 last year in winning the Class 4A state championship and finishing No. 3 in the Xcellent 25 Rankings. Illies was a key player on the team, batting .398 with 26 RBIs and 29 runs scored. Puyallup has won 72 games in his three seasons on the varsity.

West Virginia
Jacob Fisher, Sissonville (Charleston), 5-7, 160, 2B
An all-state selection as a junior, Fisher batted .462 and stole 47 bases. He's also a standout football player at Sissonville.

Wisconsin
Ty Ramirez, Greendale, 6-2, 195, P
Ramirez stood out on the mound and at the plate. He batted .375 with 35 RBIs and five home runs while on the mound he posted a 9-0 record with 86 strikeouts and a 1.03 ERA in 54 innings pitched.
