Most ejaculations without losing an erection
Most men need a rest after they orgasm - so researchers in New Jersey, America, were duly impressed when they witnessed a 40-year-old man have six orgasms in just over half an hour.
Beverly Whipple, PhD, a certified sexuality educator, counsellor, and sex researcher reported: "He maintained his erection throughout the experiment, achieving six orgasms with full ejaculations, all within 36 minutes."
The man was hooked up to various electronic devices and left in a room (with a porn video and magazines for company), while researchers observed through a window.
Studies suggest that the refectory period for men (the recovery phase required after orgasm) can range from minutes to days. For an 18-year-old male, the average time required is 15 minutes, while those in their 30s and 40s need around 30 minutes and men in their 70s take about 20 hours.
Biggest penis
New Yorker Jonah Falcon reportedly has the world's largest penis. His manhood measures 9.5 inches (24.13 cm) when flaccid and an eye-watering 13.5 inches (34.29 cm) when erect.
Falcon shot to fame after appearing in a 1999 HBO documentary called Private Dicks: Men Exposed, and went on to enjoy considerable media attention, including an appearance on a Channel 4 programme entitled The World's Biggest Penis.
And it seems his member is destined for fame for years to come. In 2014, Falcon agreed to donate his penis to the Icelandic Phallological Museum (penis museum) after his death.
Strongest vagina
There's Kegel exercises, and then there's vaginal weight lifting. In 2009, Tatyana Kozhevnikova, a 42-year-old Russian fitness instructor, set the record for world's "strongest vagina" by lifting nearly 31 pounds. Tatyana has since gone on to launch a programme of "intimate gymnastics" designed to improve female sexual health.
Most sexual partners in 24 hours
We humans can be a randy lot, but the animal kingdom has set some impressive records of its own. Female chimpanzees have been recorded copulating with eight different males in 15 minutes, while a lioness in heat has sex once every 30 minutes for four or five days/nights.
The human claim to fame? American porn actress Lisa Sparxxx had sexual intercourse with 919 men in a single day, setting a world record during Poland's Eroticon 2004.
Longest male masturbation session
Porn star Sonny Nash demonstrated his sexual stamina by breaking the record for longest "masturbatory session" during the 2012 World Masturbate-a-thon. Sonny pleasured himself for 10 hours and 10 minutes - taking the title from Masanobu Sato who wowed the crowds by masturbating for 9 hours and 58 minutes back in 2009.
Rules state that a man taking part in the competition "must stay aroused without ejaculating for as long as possible".
Most female orgasms
It's not just men who take part in Masturbate-a-thons events - though they do tend to vastly outnumber women. At the 2009 event in Denmark, a woman by the name of Deanna Webb reportedly set the record for having 226 orgasms, though we can't say for sure how scientific the event organisers were in their reporting.
