Chance the Rapper resurfaces insane 2012 clip: 'Anybody recognize the woman interviewing me?'

Chance the Rapper may have just shared one of the ultimate throwbacks in Instagram history.

The 26-year-old, who just performed during halftime of the 2020 NBA All-Star Game, shared a mind-numbing video to his Instagram on Feb. 20. Filmed in 2012, the clip shows the rapper, a teenager at the time, chatting with a now all-too-familiar face.

“Anybody recognize the woman interviewing me??” Chance captioned the video. “Give you a hint we’re playing the same Houston festival in a couple weeks and have the same number of GRAMMYs.”

It’s not an easy one to guess — especially considering that in 2012, his interviewer was about 10,000 times less famous than she is now. Need a hint?

“I remember it like it was yesterday and it was EIGHT years ago. Wow man. I’ve watched Lizzo work her a** off to become the biggest act in the world,” Chance added in his caption, revealing that the mysterious woman was actually the “Truth Hurts” singer.

In the interview, which was for a small, Minneapolis-based magazine called GreenRoom, Lizzo sits with a computer in her lap while asking Chance about his musical influences. The two share an exciting exchange during which the “Juice” singer commends him on his love for Waka Flocka Flame.

“That’s dope!” Chance says in response to her compliment.

Chance used the video to show just how far the two had come during the past eight years. Lizzo was still a year away from releasing her debut album, “Lizzobangers,” which came out in 2013 — the same year Chance released his landmark “Acid Rap” mixtape.

Today, both artists have won three Grammy awards, and as Chance pointed out, both will be performing at the RodeoHouston music festival in March. The Instagram post made it clear that Lizzo’s rise to stardom had greatly inspired Chance.

“It was nothing but her and her day 1 bestfriends’ hard work, and her own God given Talent,” Chance wrote. “I am immensely proud of her and so inspired by her journey. Life is crazy.”

Lizzo, coming off the massive success of her 2019 album, “Cuz I Love You” won awards for Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Traditional R&B Performance and Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2020 Grammys.

She’s also become a body positivity icon in addition to making headlines in recent weeks for loving exchanges with Harry Styles and for rocking a Hershey’s bar-themed dress to the 2020 BRIT Awards.
