This musical family of eight added a typewriter to their home symphony

French cello soloist Emmanuel Bleuse was born into a family of musicians.

His father was a composer and his mother, an opera singer. Bleuse has since passed the tradition onto his family of eight — four of his sons, Gabriel, Liam, Raphaël and Noam, are in a rock band called the Volvox Brothers. But don’t worry they know all the classics.

Bleuse recently posted a Facebook video of him and his family playing together like a small orchestra.

“When you’re in quarantine… the kids already tired of all their toys… but… you find an old typewriter,” he wrote in the caption.

In the video, the small room is filled to the brim with family members and their instruments including a grand piano, cello, flute, violin and a vintage typewriter that dings in perfect sync with the music. The video of the Bleuse family’s home symphony racked up over 900,000 views.

“Just love seeing what you come up within your homes — including the youngest family members! Thanks to you for sharing!” one Facebook user said.

“Great idea — the typewriter! Magnificent how your kid plays it! Bravo!” another said.

“This is SO great! Especially that typewriter and little conductor.” one person commented.

This isn’t the first time a typewriter has been used as an instrument. The Boston Typewriter Orchestra exclusively uses the old word processing machines to make music. In 1950, American composer Leroy Anderson created the composition “The Typewriter” using it as a percussion instrument. Since then musicians have used the machine to enhance their sounds in various genres.
