2021 was a blockbuster year for crypto first timers
Almost half of all cryptocurrency owners first bought digital assets in 2021 in the U.S., Latin America and the Asia Pacific region.
Gemini surveyed nearly 30,000 people across 20 countries.
It found inflation in particular drove adoption in countries experiencing currency devaluation
Brazil and Indonesia lead the world in crypto adoption with 41% of people surveyed
compared to 20% in the U.S. and 18% in the UK.
Just 17% of Europeans acknowledged owning digital assets in 2021.
Only another 7% intend to buy cryptocurrencies at some point.
