When Ford announced the new Bronco last Summer, the engine options were estimated to produce 270 hp (from a 2.3-liter EcoBoost inline 4) and 310 hp (from a 2.7-liter V-6). Official power ratings have just been revealed, and the final numbers indicate that power is up significantly from those initial estimates.

The 2.3-liter engine is now rated at 300 hp and 315 lb-ft of torque, increases of 30 hp and 15 lb-ft from initial estimates. The 2.7-liter V-6, meanwhile, is up to 330 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque, improvements of 10 hp and 5 lb-ft. Both gains are indicative of performance on premium fuel, but Ford's official ratings for each engine on 87-octane (275 hp for the inline 4 and 315 hp for the V-6) are still higher than the initial estimates given back in July of last year.

The new power ratings make an already exciting care even more enticing, but the serious gains for the inline-four are the most exciting of all. That is the only engine Ford offers with the Bronco's seven-speed manual equipped with a unique "crawler" gear, an option Ford has restricted to the less powerful, but more specialized and enthusiast-focused, inline 4 option. While the difference in torque still falls heavily in the V-6 option's favor, these updated power ratings bring the inline-four within 10 hp of initial estimates for the V-6.
