2021 NFL Draft: No in-person Scouting Combine

Chalk up one more NFL offseason event affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 NFL Scouting Combine, as it’s typically known, is off.

The NFL sent a memo out to teams today as ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed.

“Consistent with medical and public health advice, the 2021 Combine will be conducted in a different format. There will be no in-person workouts at the Combine,” the memo reads.

The memo goes on to explain that all workouts will take place on individual college pro days with the league attempting to ensure the workouts and drills performed are consistent. And that video from those workouts will be provided for clubs to access.

As we know, medicals tend to be different from team to team, but the NFL will be attempting to obtain comprehensive medical info and then set up virtual interviews with the medical staffs for different clubs. This isn’t that different than last year because by that time, the league had stopped all prospects and club personnel from traveling for workouts.
