2021 Senior Bowl: 4 QB prospects for the Eagles to watch

The Eagles have a new head coach and he’s assembling his staff, some of whom will definitely head to Mobile, Alabama for the start of the 2021 Reese’s Senior Bowl.

Nick Sirianni will need to evaluate what he has in Carson Wentz and Jalen Hurts, and with the Eagles fully believing in acquiring quarterbacks, here are four signal-callers to watch at the Senior Bowl.

QB Sam Ehlinger Texas

Ehlinger finished his career with 11,436 passing yards, 94 touchdowns, and 923 completions — each of those numbers ranking second in Texas history behind Giants backup, Colt McCoy. His Senior Bowl performance and Pro Day workout will be crucial for his draft stock, but the intangibles are there. His ability as a passer and pro quarterback need to be properly assessed and this week will provide that opportunity.

QB Feleipe Franks Arkansas

Franks was the man in Gainsville, before parting ways and allowing Kyle Trask to blossom. Franks only played one season at Arkansas, but he led the Razorbacks to three wins in the SEC and a bowl invite to the Mercari Texas Bowl. Franks headed to Arkansas as a grad transfer and completed 163 of 238 passes for 2,107 yards, 17 touchdowns, and only four interceptions. He also ran the ball 105 times for 204 yards and a touchdown.

QB Kyle Trask Florida

Trask entered the NFL draft after a record-setting performance at Florida this season and the Eagles love to have talented backups on their staff. A Heisman Trophy finalist, Trask waited behind another player on this list before finally breaking to the tune of a school record for passing yards (4,283) and passing touchdowns (43) in a season. Trask also had five 400-yard passing games while leading the Gators to the SEC championship game.

QB Jamie Newman Georgia

If the Eagles make a move at quarterback during the offseason, it would be expected that Howie Roseman would add another to the fold. Newman, stands 6-foot-4, 230-pounds with a rocket arm and the ability to carve up a defense with his running ability. Newman has been working with famed QB guru Quincy Avery, and could offer the Eagles an asset in a similar mold to Jalen Hurts.
