Find overviews below of the key primary races on the ballot this year. Initial results are expected starting at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

California Assembly

District 13: Results

Two Tracy lawmakers — Mayor Pro Tem Veronica Vargas and Councilmember Mateo Bedolla — are challenging Assemblymember Carlos Villapudua in the 13th District.

District 9: Results

Heath Flora, who currently serves as the State Assembly District 12 representative, is running unopposed for the newly-drawn District 9.

San Joaquin County Judges of the Superior Court

Office No. 3: Results

Blanca Bañuelos, who was appointed to the office in 2015, is running unopposed.

Office No. 4: Results

Commissioner of the Superior Court Jonathan Fattarsi is running against attorney Lou Tovar for the No. 4 office bench.

Office No. 6: Results

Lance G. Jacot, who was appointed to the court on Dec. 23, 2019, by Gov. Gavin Newsom, is running unopposed.

San Joaquin County Assessor: Results

Steve Bestolarides is running unopposed for another term as San Joaquin County Assessor. The assessor is responsible for annually discovering and assessing all property within the county

San Joaquin County Auditor: Results

Current San Joaquin County Auditor-Controller Jeffery Woltkamp will be on the ballot against certified public accountant Shannon Esenwein. The auditor-controller is responsible for financial reporting and audits of certain agencies within the county.

San Joaquin County Sheriff: Results

Sheriff Pat Withrow is running for re-election unopposed.

San Joaquin County Superintendent of Schools: Overview | Results

Troy A. Brown, who was appointed in July 2021 after James A. Mousalimas retired, is seeking a full term. He is challenged by former interim Stockton Unified Superintendent Brian Biedermann.

San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors: Overview | Results

Ten candidates are vying to fill two seats on the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors currently held Kathy Miller and Chuck Winn who are terming out this year.

California election: Statewide voter turnout at 18% with hours left until polls close

San Joaquin County District Attorney: Overview | Results

District Attorney Tori Verber Salazar, who is seeking another term, faces Deputy District Attorney Ron Freitas. Because there are only two candidates for San Joaquin County District Attorney, the election will be decided from the June 7 primary.

Stockton City Council: Overview | Results

Three seats for Stockton City Council are on the ballot in the June 7 primary. Candidates will need a majority of the vote or 50% plus one vote to be elected outright. Otherwise, the top two vote-getters in each district will move on to the November general election.

9th Congressional District: Overview | Results

Eight candidates are vying to represent San Joaquin County in Congress. District 9 includes all of S.J. except for Lathrop and some unincorporated areas of south Tracy. The district will also include small parts of Contra Costa and Stanislaus counties.
