The 2022 Ford GT LM Sends Ford’s Supercar OffFord
  • Ford will celebrate its 2016 Le Mans win with the final special edition of its Ford GT road car.

  • Capped at 20 examples, the Ford GT LM will feature a special dash plaque made from the ground up crankshaft of a Ford GT that finished third in class at Le Mans.

  • The Ford GT LM will feature a unique red or blue interior and red or blue tint on the exterior carbon fiber.

The Ford GT is set to finish its production run at Multimatic at the end of 2022, and with that comes the end of Ford’s reborn GT. Honoring the 2016 Le Mans class win, Ford is sending its GT off with a special edition 2022 Ford GT LM. As you’d imagine, the model’s initials represent the race it was built to run: Le Mans. While the hardware underneath the GT LM is effectively the same as the rest of the GT series-production examples, the LM model adds a badge made from the crankshaft of the third-place Ford GT from 2016, unique interior themes, and a liquid silver exterior finish.

Still powering the Ford GT LM is the 3.5-liter turbocharged EcoBoost V6 that makes 660 hp and 550 lb-ft of torque. The engine breaths through a 3D-printed titanium exhaust that features a cyclonic design in its tips. That power travels through a seven-speed automatic transaxle before hitting the rear wheels.

Making this special edition Ford GT truly distinctive is the interesting interior badge. Ford says all 20 of these Ford GT LM machines will feature a special badge on the instrument panel made from the ground up crankshaft of the third-place No. 69 car. That means this Le Mans edition Ford GT has the heart of a Le Mans-tested race car on its dash.

This LM edition also features a unique red or blue interior color scheme that ties it to the red and blue race car livery seen on the race-spec Ford GTs. This dash of color covers the driver’s seat, with the passenger seat finished in ebony Alcantara. Ford will also allow customers to have a red or blue tint in the exterior carbon fiber aero bits, which should add an extra dash of flair.

Again, Ford is capping production of these LM models at 20, which means you’re probably not going to see too many in the same neighborhood. More importantly, it’s going to be built before December, at which point Multimatic is scheduled to shut down the Ford GT’s assembly.
