Will another Oklahoma quarterback go No. 1 in the 2022 NFL Draft? originally appeared on NBC Sports Northwest

The 2021 NFL Draft was the third time that quarterbacks were taken with each of the first three selections. Could 2022 become the fourth?

Oklahoma quarterback Spencer Rattler is the current favorite to be the No. 1 selection in the 2022 draft with +225 odds, according to our partner, PointsBet

If Rattler were to be the first name called in the next draft, he would become the third Sooners signal-caller to be the top selection in the last five seasons.

Baker Mayfield went No. 1 to the Cleveland Browns in 2018 and Kyler Murray went No. 1 to the Arizona Cardinals in 2019. LSU's Joe Burrow and Clemson's Trevor Lawrence put the Oklahoma run on hold in the 2020 and 2021 drafts, respectively.

Rattler took the reins as the starter in Norman, Okla., last season, and picked up right where Jalen Hurts left off. He led the Sooners to a Big 12 title and a blowout win over the Florida Gators in the Cotton Bowl. Rattler accumulated 3,031 passing yards, 28 touchdowns and seven interceptions through the air en route to a 9-2 record. He was also a threat with his legs, picking up 160 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns.

Rattler highlights an intriguing 2022 draft class. North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell (+350) has the next-highest odds to go No. 1. The next three favorites to be the top pick in 2022 are Oregon defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux (+400), LSU cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. (+800) and USC quarterback Kedon Slovis.

Thibodeaux is the best bet to be the first defensive player off the board and prevent 2022 from becoming the second straight draft with three QBs as the first three picks.

Which team will have that coveted top selection? The Houston Texans have the lowest over/under win total for next season at just 3.5. Next are the Detroit Lions at five games, and from there four teams are tied at 6.5 games in the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars and Cincinnati Bengals.
