2022 NFL draft UDFA trackers: Which local college athletes signed with pro teams

The 2022 NFL draft may have ended, but that doesn't mean the dream is over for NFL-hopefuls who didn't hear their name called.

Agents are already on the phones with teams, continuing to sell their clients and get them opportunities as undrafted free agents. That includes a number of local guys from MAC and Division II schools in the state who are joining teams in hopes of getting a chance this summer.

Here's a running list of who those players, where they're going and their collegiate production.

Jared Bernhardt, WR/KR, Ferris State

Atlanta Falcons: The journey continues for Bernhardt, who won the Tewaaraton Trophy as the best lacrosse player in the country at Maryland before leading Ferris State to a Division II national title last year as a QB. He has signed with the Atlanta Falcons as a wide receiver and kick returner.

Jake Julien, P, Eastern Michigan

New England Patriots: The Eastern Michigan punter tied Rich Hanschu (1979-80) for first place in program history with a 43.4 yards per punt average. He is the only punter in EMU history with two punts of 70 yards or more, had 37 punts of more than 50 yards and pinned opponents inside the 20 yard line 51 times.

Mike Caliendo, OL, Western Michigan

Kansas City Chiefs: A two-time first team All-Mid American Conference offensive lineman, Mike Caliendo will rejoin his teammate, wide receiver Skyy Moore, with the Kansas City Chiefs. Caliendo, who stands 6-foot-4, 300 pounds, was named as one of 13 finalists for the 2021 William V. Campbell Trophy, also known as the Academic Heisman,

Dishon McNary, CM, Central Michigan

Chicago Bears: According to NFL Draft Buzz, Dishon McNary was ranked the No. 54 cornerback prospect before the draft and now, he will get a chance in Chicago. The defensive back started his career at Independence Community College where he finished with 28 tackles, two sacks and 10 pass breakups. In 2020, McNary made Pro Football Focus' All-MAC first-team, finishing with 26 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and one interception. He had 15 tackles and four pass breakups in 2021 before he injured his ankle in Week 4 of 2021 and missed the rest of the season,
