After a flurry of roster moves, the Patriots’ initial 53-man roster is set.

Quarterbacks: Mac Jones, Brian Hoyer, Bailey Zappe

Runningbacks : Damien Harris, Rhamondre Stevenson, Ty Montgomery, Pierre Strong Jr.

Wide Receivers: Jakobi Meyers, DeVante Parker, Nelson Agholor, Kendrick Bourne, Tyquan Thornton

Tight Ends: Hunter Henry, Jonnu Smith

Offensive Linemen: Trent Brown, Cole Strange, David Andrews, Mike Onwenu, Isaiah Wynn, Justin Herron, Yodny Cajuste, Chasen Hines

Defensive Linemen: Christian Barmore, Davon Godchaux, Lawrence Guy, Deatrich Wise, Carl Davis, Sam Roberts

Outside Linebackers: Matthew Judon, Josh Uche, Anfernee Jennings, DaMarcus Mitchell

Inside Linebackers: Ja’Whaun Bentley, Raekwon McMillan, Mack Wilson, Jahlani Tavai

Cornerbacks: Jalen Mills, Jonathan Jones, Myles Bryant, Shaun Wade, Jack Jones, Marcus Jones

Safeties : Devin McCourty, Kyle Dugger, Adrian Phillips, Jabrill Peppers, Joshuah Bledsoe

Special Teamers: Matthew Slater, Nick Folk, Jake Bailey, Joe Cardona, Cody Davis, Brenden Schooler

The Patriots’ streak of an undrafted rookie making the initial 53-man roster is extended for a 19th year after both DaMarcus Mitchell and Brenden Schooler survived the cutdown day. Both figure to factor into the Patriots’ special teams plans.

Defensive Lineman Daniel Ekuale will also figure into the Patriots’ regular season plan but will not count against the team’s roster cap as he serves a two-game suspension.

Tyquan Thornton and Ty Montgomery may also be placed on IR in the near future, opening up two more roster spots until their return.

7:00 p.m. OT Yasir Durant, G James Ferentz, S Brad Hawkins, DT LaBryan Ray, TE Matt Sokol, K Tristan Vizcaino, TE Jalen Wydermyer.

DL Henry Anderson, WR Kristian Wilkerson added to IR

After a great start to camp, LaBryan Ray faded in August and couldn’t stick on the defensive line. The release of Sokol and Wydermyer means New England will only carry two tight ends on their opening roster.

While it was originally reported Anderson would be released, he instead lands on season-ending IR with Wilkerson- ending their seasons barring an injury settlement.

4:13 p.m. OL Kody Russey

3:50 p.m. WR Lil’Jordan Humphrey

An extremely strong preseason wasn’t enough for Humphrey to make the roster. Humphrey seems like a prime candidate to land on the practice squad.

3:44 p.m. WR Tre Nixon

The last act of Patriots behind-the-scenes-string-puller Ernie Adams was selecting Nixon in the 2021draft. The wideout had bright moments during the preseason and Belichick even called him one of the hardest workers on the team. His days in Foxboro may not be over.

3:39 p.m. G/DT Bill Murray

Might stick on the Patriots’ practice squad, per NFL Insider Tom Pelissero.

3:12 p.m. LB Cam McGrone

McGrone, a 2021 fifth round draft pick, missed all of last year as he recovered from an ACL injury. The former Michigan linebacker never seemed to fully pick up the Patriots’ process in training camp but his rare athletic gifts may keep him in New England on the practice squad per Patriot.com’s Evan Lazar.

2:50 p.m. DT Jeremiah Phams Jr.

2:48 p.m. LB Nate Weiland

2:39 p.m. WR Josh Hammond

The 24-year-old wideout has bounced around the league in his first two years and couldn’t break through as a contributor in a WR room that boasts plenty of capable bodies, even if Tyquan Thornton is injured.

2:24 p.m. OL Will Sherman

Like Hambright, Sherman had a claim to make the roster as one of the team’s backup guards. And like Hambright, Sherman’s career will now likely play out elsewhere as reports around the league swirl of teams hungry for o-linemen.

2:01 p.m. DL Henry Anderson, DB/ST Justin Bethel, RB J.J. Taylor

Bethel likely lost his spot to undrafted rookie Brenden Schooler. The Oregon product has shined on special teams in preseason, where Bethel makes his roster claim. Taylor was fighting an uphill battle to make the roster in a crowded running back room. After signing as a free agent in 2021, Anderson had a limited impact and was shelved with a torn pec after playing in only four games.

1:52 p.m. OL Arlington Hambright

Despite having a claim to the Patriots back-up guard spot as recently as two weeks ago, the former seventh round pick was a cut causality. With the ability to play around the offensive line, Hambright will gain interest around the league.

1:37 p.m. Sixth-round rookie running back Kevin Harris is waived.

Harris had a few bright moments during the Patriots’ preseason but struggled holding onto the ball. Harris will likely re-sign with the Patriots’ practice squad.

1:11 p.m. Linebacker Harvey Langi, offensive lineman Drew Desjarlais.

Langi saw action in seven 2021 regular season games but his campaign was prematurely ended after an ankle injury. Desjarlais arrived in New England by way of the CFL was competing for a backup role in the trenches.

1:01 p.m. Corner back Terrance Mitchell released.

Despite shining at the beginning of training camp, the veteran QB seemingly lost the starting job to long-time Patriot Jonathan Jones at some point. With rookie Marcus Jones providing support in the slot and rookie Jack Jones and sophomore corner Shaun Wade behind, the Patriots are aiming to go smaller, younger and faster among their 2022 cornerback group.

11:43 a.m. Tight End Devin Asiasi will be waived according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

A 2020 third-round draft pick, Asiasi failed to ever make an immediate impact in Foxboro, only catching two passes in his two seasons with the Patriots. The move opens the door for either Matt Sokol to earn the backup TE spot or WR Lil’Jordan Humphrey to play a combination role.
