The 2022 primary elections in Bay County are Tuesday. Here's who is on the ballot

PANAMA CITY — With Election Day just around the corner, Bay County Supervisor of Elections Mark Andersen reminds residents that voting is a civil duty no one should take lightly.

Voting sites will be open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the the 2022 primary elections in Bay County. Residents will be able to cast ballots for seven political races involving local, federal and state offices.

"It is the voters' responsibility to show up," Andersen said. "If they're interested in this election, which everyone should be, it's important to realize that we are in the primary election that matters just as much as the general (election)."

Depending on whether you are registered as a Republican or Democrat, here are the offices up for election and their competing candidates that may be on your ballot:

  • U.S. senator — Ricardo De La Fuente, Val Demings, Brian Rush and William Sanchez

  • Florida governor and lieutenant governor — Charlie Crist, Cadance Daniel, Nikki Fried and Robert Willis

  • Florida Attorney General — Aramis Ayala, Jim Lewis and Daniel Uhlfelder

  • Florida commissioner of agriculture — Naomi Esther Blemur, J.R. Gaillot, Ryan Morales, James Shaw and Wilton Simpson

  • District 2 seat of the Florida Senate — Regina Piazza and Jay Trumbull

  • District 6 seat of the Florida House of Representatives — Brian Clowdus and Griff Griffitts

  • District 2 seat of the Bay District School Board — Frances Keys Gordon and Ann Leonard

There also are seven other local candidates who will win their offices unopposed. They are:

  • Robert Carroll — unopposed, District 2 seat on the Bay County Board of County Commissioners

  • Doug Moore — unopposed, District 4 seat on the Bay County Board of County Commissioners

  • Christopher Moore — unopposed, District 3 seat on the Bay District School Board

  • Steve Moss — unopposed, District 5 seat on the Bay District School Board

  • William Dyer — unopposed, Bay County Judge Group 3

  • David Dean — unopposed, Seat 2 of the Lake Powell Residential Golf Community Development District

  • Frank Self — unopposed, Seat 5 of the Lake Powell Residential Golf Community Development District

There are 122,933 registered voters in Bay County, of which 66,270 are Republicans and 26,646 are Democrats, according to the Bay County Supervisor of Elections website. Voter registration deadline was July 25, and it is too late to vote in the 2022 primary election by mail.

Andersen noted residents interested in voting can do so only at their designated voting sites, which can be found by visiting bayvotes.org.

"On Election Day, you will have to go to your precinct or polling location that is specific to where you live," Andersen said.
