Ask someone why they use a particular beauty product, and they'll probably mention aesthetics or wellness — or, likely, both. While one person might slather on sunscreen religiously in hopes of preventing fine lines, another might do so with the sole intention of avoiding skin cancer. Both reasons are totally valid, for the record.

At Shape, we cover and test beauty products and treatments through the lens of wellness and self-care, paying close attention to how products and ingredients can help enhance your active lifestyle. We've channeled all that knowledge into the Shape Beauty Awards, our annual round-up of outstanding beauty products across several categories.

For the 2022 Shape Beauty Awards, we also teamed up with several beauty professionals, who are experts in their given fields, to collectively crown the best of the best in the categories of skin care, hair care, body care and hygiene, beauty tools, and sweat-proof makeup. Testers selected winners through the perspective of someone who mainly views beauty as part of their wellness routine (think: scalp-care products and high-tech tools that deliver healthier skin).

New this year, you'll also find one winning "TikTok-loved" product in each category that has a special place in the hearts of social media creators and experts alike. Scrolling through the countless beauty-related posts on the app can make the task of finding the products that actually work fairly daunting. But you can rest easy knowing that these winners are backed by our experts and worth the hype.

So, if you need to revamp a step in your beauty routine (or, heck, simply start one) our winning list is the perfect place to start. Without further ado, these are the best beauty products you can buy right now.
