That was the story last season for the Tennessee Titans, who went 12-5 en route to the franchise’s first No. 1 playoff seed in 13 years – despite using 91 players, an NFL record for a non-strike season.
The Titans’ 2022 schedule was released Thursday. How might the team fare in the upcoming season?

Week 1 – vs. Giants
Sunday, Sept. 11, 3:25 p.m., Fox– The Giants have made upgrades to their offensive line, but the Titans’ front four should still have its way in this matchup, making Daniel Jones’ day miserable. Pick: Titans 36, Giants 16.
Week 2 – at Bills
Monday, Sept. 19, 6:15 p.m., ESPN – This early in the season, the Titans still will be acclimating to personnel changes on offense. The Bills’ top-rated scoring defense from last season added pass rusher Von Miller, a future Hall of Famer. Pick: Bills 32, Titans 21
Week 3 – vs. Raiders
Sunday, Sept. 25, noon, Fox– The Raiders’ edge-rushing tandem of Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones, who had five sacks against the Titans in the season opener last season, overwhelms a Tennessee offensive line looking to replace two starters. Pick: Raiders 26, Titans 23.
Week 4 – at Colts
Sunday, Oct. 2, noon, Fox– The Colts are primed to threaten the Titans’ reign in the AFC South with Matt Ryan as their quarterback. Pick: Colts 32, Titans 25.
Week 5 – at Commanders
Sunday, Oct. 9, noon, CBS – The Titans put together their most complete game of the season in the nation’s capital. Pick: Titans 34, Commanders 3.

Week 7 – vs. Colts
Sunday, Oct. 23, noon, CBS – Indianapolis and Tennessee split their season series for the third time in four years. Pick: Titans 22, Colts 16.
Week 8 – at Texans
Sunday, Oct. 30, 3:05 p.m., CBS – Houston has made improvements to its roster through the draft and free agency, but it remains outweighed in talent by Tennessee. Pick: Titans 28, Texans 20.
Week 9 – at Chiefs
Sunday, Nov. 6, 7:20 p.m., NBC – After last year’s beatdown at Nissan Stadium, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs clap back in Kansas City. Pick: Chiefs 27, Titans 24.

Week 10 – vs. Broncos
Sunday, Nov. 13, noon, CBS – The Titans get a signature win at home against the Broncos, who are in AFC contention after trading for Russell Wilson. Pick: Titans 28, Broncos 27.
Week 11 – at Packers
Thursday, Nov. 17, 7:15 p.m., Prime Video – Green Bay is more beatable considering its offense has taken a step back – superstar receiver Davante Adams was traded to Las Vegas – but Aaron Rodgers is still an elite quarterback, capable of picking apart even the strongest of defenses. Pick: Packers 30, Titans 27.
Week 12 – vs. Bengals
Sunday, Nov. 27, noon, CBS – The Titans get their revenge on the Bengals for the divisional-round playoff loss from last season. Pick: Titans 28, Bengals 27.
Week 13 – at Eagles
Sunday, Dec. 4, noon, Fox– Against former Titans star A.J. Brown and the Eagles, quarterback Ryan Tannehill has a big day throwing to his new weapons. Pick: Titans 33, Eagles 21.
Week 14 – vs. Jaguars
Sunday, Dec. 11, noon, CBS – Don’t be surprised to see the Jaguars steal a game in the season series. Trevor Lawrence has better weapons around him and a coach in Doug Pederson who has a history of developing quarterbacks. Pick: Jaguars 27, Titans 21.
Week 15 – at Chargers
Sunday, Dec. 18, 3:25 p.m., CBS – The Chargers have stacked up on defense, adding Pro Bowl cornerback J.C. Jackson and former All-Pro pass rusher Khalil Mack, and that’s bad news for a Titans offense that still has a lot of questions. Pick: Chargers 28, Titans 25.
Week 16 – vs. Texans
Saturday, Dec. 24, noon, CBS – The Texans surprised the Titans at home last year. That won’t happen again in 2022. Pick: Titans 25, Texans 14.
Week 17 – vs. Cowboys
Thursday, Dec. 29, 7:15 p.m., Prime Video – With Amari Cooper gone at receiver and a dwindling Ezekiel Elliott at running back, quarterback Dak Prescott’s supporting cast is less intimidating to opposing teams. Pick: Titans 28, Cowboys 24.
Week 18 – at Jaguars
Saturday or Sunday, Jan. 7 or 8, TBD – The Titans split their season series with the Jaguars for the first time since 2019. Pick: Titans 17, Jaguars 3.
