2022 three-star safety Cruz Rushing commits to Oregon Ducks, to join as preferred walk-on

The Oregon Ducks added another recruit to their 2022 class a week from National Signing Day.

Three-star safety Cruz Rushing out of Tuscon, Arizona, announced Tuesday night he was committing to the Ducks program. He will join the Ducks as a preferred walk-on.

Rushing, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound safety from Salpointe Catholic High School, is ranked as the No. 48 player in Arizona and the No. 156 safety in the nation, according to 247Sports Composite.

He was set to enroll at Arizona State before accepting a walk-on role at Oregon.

Rushing will join a group of defensive backs, including Colorado transfer Christian Gonzalez and four-star prep cornerback Jalil Tucker. The Ducks also have a verbal commitment from safety Trejon Williams.

Last month during early National Signing Day, the Ducks added Tucker, linebackers Devon Jackson and Harrison Taggart, defensive linemen Ben Roberts and Sir Mells, offensive lineman Michael Wooten and athlete and defensive lineman Anthony Jones as they all signed their letters of intent.

Defensive lineman Gracen Halton has verbally committed to the program but hasn't signed.

Oregon's 2022 class is now ranked 52nd, according to 247Sports. The Ducks recruiting class is also ranked seventh in the Pac-12.
