2023-2024 Best high schools rankings are out and three Nashville-area schools made the top 100
U.S. News & World Report released its 2023-24 rankings of the top public high schools in the United States. Three in Tennessee made the top 100.
The rankings stem from an evaluation of nearly 18,000 public high schools nationwide. They consider factors like state assessment scores, demographics, diversity and graduation rates, among others.
"This year’s rankings showcase the schools whose students demonstrate outstanding outcomes, surpassing the anticipated benchmarks, including achieving high graduation rates," the digital media agency said a news release.

Tennessee public high schools in top 100 nationwide
#31 nationally: Merrol Hyde Magnet School in Hendersonville (Sumner County)
#38 nationally: Central Magnet School in Murfreesboro (Rutherford County)
#98 nationally: Hume Fogg Magnet High School in Nashville (Davidson County)
While magnet schools are public, they offer special programs and classes that may not be available in other public schools. They also have applications and academic requirements for students who wish to enroll.

The top 25 public high schools in Tennessee represented a mixture of traditional, magnet and charter schools across the state's west, middle and east regions. Enrollment sizes ranged widely from a few hundred to a few thousand.
