10:15 p.m.
In the county, everything is counted but the provisional ballots. So it appears that with the early in-person voting and mailed ballots counted that Tim Swortzel surged to a lead he will not relinquish.
Still no early in-person voting or mail absentee ballots counted in Waynesboro as of 10:15 p.m.
9:59 p.m.
With the mailed in and in-person early votes counted, Tim Swortzel has opened up a nearly 300 vote lead over challenger Mykell Alleman. Still 28 of 29 precincts reported.
9:35 p.m.
With much of the vote counted, most of the big races — Adam Campbell winning the Staunton City Council seat, Scott Seaton prevailing over John Higgs for the Board of Supervisors, and county school board Chair Nick Collins losing soundly to Sharon Griffin — seem settled.
In the county school board race, one race remains close: Mykell Alleman holding a small lead over incumbent Tim Swortzel, with 28 of 29 precincts reporting. No early voting or absentee ballots have been counted in the county, which means these two hopefuls may have a while to wait.
9:05 p.m.
In Staunton, all the votes except provisional and post-election ballots, are now counted.
8:45 p.m.
Augusta County now has 21 of 29 precincts reporting.
8:15 p.m.
As Augusta County numbers still trickle in, the big wait in Staunton is for more than 1900 early votes to be counted. Waynesboro had 970 in-person early votes.
Voter turnout in Staunton is showing at the state website as 28.88% with 5,256 ballots cast.
