2023′s most and least stressed states: Florida is in the middle of the pack, study shows

Florida ranks among the middle of the pack when it comes to the most and least stressed states in America, according to a new study released Monday by WalletHub.

April is Stress Awareness Month and a whopping 83 percent of U.S. adults are stressed out by inflation, the study found.

The Sunshine State ranked No. 24 overall out of the 50 states in terms of stress levels, with No. 1 being the highest stress levels and No. 50 the lowest.

Here are the key rankings for Florida’s metrics, which ultimately led to its overall rank:

  • 46th – in work-related stress

  • 20th – in money-related stress

  • 7th – in family-related stress

  • 36th – in health and safety-related stress

The data set ranged from average hours worked per week to the personal bankruptcy rate to the share of adults getting adequate sleep.

The top five least stressed states were Minnesota, Utah, New Hampshire, South Dakota and Massachusetts.

The most stressed states were Mississippi, Louisiana, New Mexico, West Virginia and Nevada.
