2024 Chevy Trax First Look: How is this cheaper than the Trailblazer?
The new Chevy Trax is bigger and cooler than the Trailblazer, but it's cheaper. What's the deal?

- Remember the old Chevy Trax? Yeah, it's probably better that you don't. Well, that's the new one. Quite the transformation. So the Trax still slots just below the Trailblazer, which is over there in yellow. But it's actually quite a bit bigger. And I'd say it looks cooler too. The interior, it's more modern and spacious than the Trailblazer, which looks like this.
OK, so what's the deal? It really comes down to the powertrain. The new Trax only comes with the Trailblazer's base engine, a 137-horsepower 1.2-liter Turbo 3, plus a six-speed automatic and front-wheel drive only. You can get the bigger turbo and all-wheel drive on the Trailblazer. That's surprising because, frankly, this looks like more of a trailblazing offroader with its high-ground clearance and crazy high-departure angle. So Chevy's subcompact SUV strategy does seem, eh, a little weird. But this new Trax does look like it could be a winner, especially since all versions cost less than $25,000.
