2024 edge Sterling Dixon picks Alabama football over Auburn, LSU

Alabama football has added another commit to its 2024 recruiting class.

Edge Sterling Dixon from Mobile Christian School announced Thursday he had picked the Crimson Tide over Auburn, LSU and others. Dixon is a four-star prospect ranked No. 16 at his position in the country, per the 247Sports Composite.

"I'm ready to get down and work," Dixon said at his announcement. "That's the biggest thing."

His pledge is Alabama's fifth commitment for the 2024 class, which 247 ranked No. 5 prior to Dixon's commitment Thursday.

"I want to go play with the best," Dixon said of Alabama.

Alabama also has commitments from five-star quarterback Julian Sayin, four-star cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe, four-star receiver Perry Thompson and four-star athlete Martavious Collins. Thompson (Foley) and Mbakwe (Pinson) are also Alabama natives.

Alabama assistant Charles Kelly is listed as the primary recruiter for Dixon. Defensive coordinator Pete Golding is the secondary recruiter.

"I just appreciate every one of (the coaches)," Dixon said.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF:What latest College Football Playoff rankings mean for Alabama football

Alabama (10-2) is in the middle of waiting to find out its 2022 bowl destination. The College Football Playoff is unlikely for the Crimson Tide at this point. A spot in the Sugar Bowl is most likely at this point because the highest-ranked SEC team not in the field of four teams goes to the game in New Orleans. The bowl destination will be announced Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.
