2024 Fort Smith Polar Plunge raises more than $15,000 for Special Olympics Arkansas

FORT SMITH, Ark. (KFTA/KNWA)— The rain Saturday didn’t stop people in Fort Smith from showing up to support a good cause.

One by one law enforcement and community members jumped into the Creekmore Park pool to help raise funds for Special Olympics Arkansas. According to organizers there were over a 100 contributions for the event.

Organizers also say donations totaled over $15,000, surpassing their goal of $10,000.

The Fort Smith Police Department was the last group to take on the polar plunge.

Saturday wasn’t the only chance to support special Olympics Arkansas. There will be polar plunge challenges across the state during the month of February. On February 10, there will be a polar plunge at Beaver Lake.
