2024 Saint Patrick’s Parades in Northeastern PA

EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — Many honor Irish heritage in NEPA making Saint Patrick’s Day the perfect holiday to celebrate and 28/22 News has put together a list of parades so those who are celebrating can plan accordingly with their annual traditions.

Scranton – The annual Scranton St. Patrick’s Parade kicks off this year on Saturday, March 9, at 11:45 a.m. “Parade Day” in Scranton began in 1962 when the St. Patrick’s Parade Day Association of Lackawanna County held the widely known parade the weekend before the Feast of St. Patrick. The Brian P. Kelly Memorial 2-mile footrace begins at 11:00 a.m. For a full list of Scranton’s Parade Day festivities visit the Scranton’s St. Patrick’s Parade website.

Pittston – Now in its 11th year, the Pittston City St. Patrick’s Parade is set to step off on Saturday, March 2, at 11:30 a.m. on Main Street. The Leprechaun Loop Run/Walk starts one hour before the parade at 10:30 a.m. with registration beginning at 9:00 a.m. For more details and other activities scheduled in honor of St. Patrick check out the Pittston City St. Patrick’s Parade website.

Wilkes-Barre – The St. Patrick’s Parade in Wilkes-Barre will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, at the intersection of South and South Main Streets with over 2,000 participants scheduled to take part. The parade will begin at the intersection and travel down South Main Street, around PUblic Square toward East Market Street, and end at the cross of North Main and Union Streets. Stroudsburg – The Pocono Irish American Club (PIAC) is hosting the annual St. Patrick’s Parade scheduled for Sunday, March 24, at 1:15 p.m. beginning at Stroudsburg High School at 1100 Main Street and ending on Crystal Street at the municipal building in Stroudsburg. The day will begin with a pancake breakfast inside the high school from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Visit the PIAC website for more information.

The Girardville Saint Patrick’s Parade has been canceled in 2024. According to the Girardville Saint Patrick’s Parade website, the event has been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances, but they’re working on putting together a block party.
