21-year-old arrested in connection with Thursday morning bank robbery in Hartford

A 21-year-old Hartford man was arrested in connection to a Thursday morning bank robbery.

Giovanny Torres, 21, was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree threatening, second-degree breach of peace, third-degree larceny and interfering with police.

Around 11:20 a.m., officers were dispatched to Key Bank at 1700 Park St. for a hold-up alarm.

Video footage showed Torres passing a “threatening note to a teller and demand[ing] money,” police said.

With the help of West Hartford, Newington and state police, officers found the suspect “exiting the Willard St. fast track platform,” they added.

When Torres was detained, officers found “a large amount of cash,” on him and witnesses confirmed the 21-year-old suspect was the man seen in the bank, police said.

There were no injuries reported in the robbery.
