21-year-old dies, one remains in hospital after Thomson shooting Sunday

THOMSON, Ga. (WJBF)- The GBI is helping the Thomson Police Department and McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office with a shooting that killed one woman, and sent another to the hospital.

Investigators say two females were both shot at least one time early Sunday morning on McCommons Street in Thomson.

The McDuffie County Coroner’s Office was called to Piedmont McDuffie Hospital for a gunshot victim who died from her injuries at 3:33 a.m. Sunday morning.

The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Otekqueonna Williams of Thomson.

The other victim was taken to a hospital in Augusta, where she is currently being treated for her injury.

Williams is scheduled for an autopsy later this week at the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta.

No arrests have been made, but GBI, Thomson Police, and the McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate.
