A 21-year-old motorcyclist died Tuesday morning after colliding with a vehicle on Interstate 4, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Jandihel Ortiz Aviles of Kissimmee was traveling east on I-4 and at one point was seen driving on the outside shoulder of the roadway, PCSO said in a news release. At about 6:56 a.m., while traveling between U.S. 27 and Championsgate Boulevard, Aviles changed to the center lane and the motorcycle violently collided with the rear of a white 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by Hamilton White, 36, of Orlando.

The impact ejected Aviles from his motorcycle and caused significant damage to the back of the Equinox, the release said. Aviles was not wearing a helmet. White was not injured.

A deputy who had just completed an unrelated traffic stop nearby arrived at the scene of the crash shortly after it occurred and immediately began life-saving measures and requested Polk County Fire Rescue and additional PCSO units, the release said.
