21-year-old man killed in York’s first homicide since 2022

YORK COUNTY, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The first homicide in York since 2022 is being investigated following a weekend shooting, the York Police Department announced Monday.

Officers responded to calls regarding the deadly shooting shortly after 9:30 p.m. Saturday, May 4, in the 200 block of Galilean Road.

Jai’Shaun Young, 21, of Gastonia, was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the York County Coroner’s Office.

Autopsy and toxicology will be completed this week. The death is still under investigation by the York Police Department and the York County Coroner’s Office.
