21-year-old woman hurt in overnight Danville shooting

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The Danville Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting that left a woman hurt on Thursday.

Deputy Chief Terry McCord said the shooting happened at 1 a.m. in the area of Edgewood Drive and Fowler Avenue. Officers were initially told of a medical issue and arrived on scene to learn the issue was caused by gunshot wounds. The victim was a 21-year-old woman.

Officers rendered medical aid until EMS arrived. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where she is currently in stable condition.

McCord said officers recovered spent shell casings at the scene but were unable to learn any suspect information from witnesses on the scene. The department will continue to investigate.
