This real housewife is filing a real divorce!
“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Erika Jayne has filed for divorce from her husband, powerhouse attorney Tom Girardi, after 21 years of marriage.
“After much consideration, I have decided to end my marriage to Tom Girardi,” Jayne said in a statement Nov. 3. “This is not a step taken lightly or easily. I have great love and respect for Tom and for our years and the lives we built together.”
The New York Times best-selling author and pop music singer added that it was her “absolute wish to proceed through this process with respect and with the privacy that both Tom and I deserved. I request others give us that privacy as well.”
The couple, who are over 30 years apart in age, married in 1999 after meeting at Chasen’s restaurant in West Hollywood, California, where she was employed as a cocktail waitress.
The 49-year-old Atlanta native has defended the marriage throughout her time on the hit Bravo reality series.
“I’ve dealt with this forever: the younger woman that married the wealthier, older man,” she said on “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” “I mean, I’m tired of having to justify my 20-year marriage. Go get a 20-year marriage, then come f–king talk to me.”
In 2017, Jayne told “Real Housewives” kingpin Andy Cohen that she did not sign a prenup before marrying Girardi, 81, who gained fame as the real-life attorney who won the case against the utility company that inspired the Julia Roberts movie “Erin Brockovich.”
“Let me tell you something, let me be very clear. I’m married to a very powerful lawyer,” she said. “A prenup wouldn’t stand in his way anyway… It’s going to be all Tom’s way, I assure you. He’ll rip that piece of paper to shreds in two seconds.”
The “How Many F---s” singer was married before; her first husband was also named Tom; Thomas Zizzo, with whom she shares an adult son, Tommy Zizzo.
