22-year-old skier dies after colliding with tree at Colorado resort, company says

A skier died after colliding with a tree at a Colorado ski resort, according to a skiing company.

The 22-year-old woman was skiing on the Exhibition run at Aspen Highlands Ski Resort on Saturday, Jan. 27, a spokesperson for Aspen Skiing Company said in an email to McClatchy News.

After the accident, the ski patrol performed “lifesaving measures” on the unconscious woman, the spokesperson said.

Patrol later spoke with an emergency room doctor who said the woman, who was not identified, was pronounced dead on scene, according to the spokesperson.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic accident and our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time,” the spokesperson said.

Aspen is about 200 miles southwest of Denver.
