23 July in Sumy Oblast: Russian forces fire on 6 hromadas, killing 1 civilian

Russian forces attacked Sumy Oblast 12 times, firing over 170 different types of ammunition over the course of Saturday, 23 July. A local resident was killed in one of the attacks.

Details: Shalyhyne, Mykolaivka, Bilopillia, Khotin,Yunakivka, and Krasnopillia hromadas [amalgamated territorial communities] came under Russian fire.

At noon, two Russian military aircrafts fired 10 rockets at Mykolaivka hromada from Russian territory. A residential building and several outbuildings were destroyed at two local civilian households in one of the villages. Dmytro Zhyvytskyi reported that vegetable gardens belonging to local residents, and the windows in their houses, were damaged, but no casualties have been reported.

Zhyvytskyi also said that the Russians used mortars to fire on a village in Bilopillia hromada at 15:00 on 23 July, killing a 69-year-old local farmer and destroying two tractors and a farmstead. Earlier, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office reported that a 71-year-old farmer was killed in Sumy Oblast following Russian shelling in the village of Ryzhivka on 23 July.
