23-Year-Old DJ Dies After Tragically Falling From Houston Balcony

Darian Lewis, 23, a well-known Houston DJ, died after mysteriously falling from an apartment balcony in downtown Houston.

Lewis went on her girlfriend’s 13th-floor apartment balcony after a night of drinking and fell to the 9th floor. Lewis’ girlfriend, Nishia Jackson, was the last person to see ger before the incident and had publicly been speaking about what took place at the Camden apartment that night. Jackson posted on Facebook that a friend of Lewis’s dropped her off at the apartment.

Jackson explained that when she opened the door for Lewis to come in, she ran straight to the balcony and climbed on a patio chair.

“Once she claimed on the patio chair, I sprinted from the door to her, but she fell over before I could save her,” Jackson wrote.

“I literally saw & heard her fall before my eyes. Running to her, I had to take the stairs because the elevator took too long. I got to her & immediately screamed & summoned for help!. There’s no way I could have pushed her over,” she wrote.

Lewis’s family told Fox26 that they would not listen to any rumors but would wait for the police to do their job and find out what happened on the balcony.

“We’re going to trust the system, and we’re going to let them do their job,” Lewis’s father said.

Houston police tell FOX 26 that it appears to have been an unfortunate accident. The family is hanging on to how she touched others’ lives through Facebook tributes people have posted on her to social media.

“I would just like to continue seeing some posts where they enjoyed being with her and around her,” her mother, Terri Lewis, said.

“She was that life for you guys, so now it’s everyone else’s turn to be that life for us, so we can watch those videos and those moments that we didn’t see, so we can see it and smile and reminisce on how great of a person she was,” her brother Chase Taylor said.

A fundraiser is planned in her honor for Saturday, Jul 16 at Voodoo Seafood on Eldridge Pkwy. From 3 p.m. to 2 a.m.
