23-year-old motorcyclist killed in collision with pickup truck in DeLand
A motorcyclist was killed Thursday in a collision with a pickup truck in DeLand, according to the DeLand Police Department.
Preston Lee Johns, 23, was riding a 2021 black Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound at about 6:17 p.m. on East International Speedway Boulevard crossing North Garfield Avenue, according to DeLand police.
A Ford pickup traveling westbound on East International Speedway Boulevard attempted to turn southbound on North Garfield Avenue. The motorcycle and the pickup collided.
The motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries, police stated. The driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries and was treated at a hospital.
Police did not say initially where Johns was from, but a Facebook page featuring a young man that goes by the same name and featuring photos of a black Kawasaki motorcycle indicates he's from DeLand.
The accident is still under investigation.
