Albums Turning 20 in 2021

The year 2021 marks a big milestone for many popular albums. Few things can make you feel as old as when you realize that an album you may have grown up listening to is approaching its 20th birthday, and yet, here we are (at least you're not alone). Some seriously iconic albums came out 20 years ago, whether they were the final studio album for a musician or one of their first big commercial hits.

Back in 2001, the music industry really wasn't much different than it is today, proving most things really do come full circle. Just like today, pop, hip-hop, and rock dominated the scene. The pop star obsession of of the 1990s was starting to die down just a bit (even Britney Spears' sound was getting more mature), while rock was having a moment (The Strokes came on the scene in a big way). Jay-Z's career was forever changed with the release of one of his best albums of all time. The boy bands of the '90s were also leaving the scene, with bands like NSYNC delivering their final songs together.
