In a crash report from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), authorities said one driver in a Ford pickup truck was headed north along FM 1609 when another driver, identified as Seth Boynton, 24, of Ira was driving south in a GMC pickup truck when the two pickups collided.

The crash report found that Boynton failed to maintain his lane and drove into the northbound lane as the other driver approached. That driver took evasive action, steering into the southbound lane away from Boynton’s vehicle, and Boynton steered back into his lane, striking the vehicle head on. Boynton’s vehicle caught fire shortly after the crash.

24-year-old Seth Boynton was pronounced dead at the crash scene just before 3:00 p.m. Monday, February 12. The driver of the other vehicle and his passenger were taken to a nearby hospital with incapacitating injuries. Both were reportedly in stable condition.
